Competition in full swing this weekend, 2 wins and 1 loss, leaving me in a tie for first spot. Arthur and Nana due back to Beijing next Saturday and off to the airport to welcome them back so will probably have to put the remaining games on hiatus. In Changsha Arthur managed to pull a cup of hot tea off the table and scalded himself quite badly, but seems to be recovering well. Looking forward to having everyone back next week.

The book I ordered on the Forbidden city has arrived as well, so can beginning my preparations for our Christmas trip! Hoping also to head to the Capital museum which I’ve been told has a replica Hutong from the beginning of the 20th century.

Arthur’s burn, Arthur ignoring me in favour of the TV, and my new book!

Zhouzhou arrived back in Beijing on Friday night so we headed out for Japanese last night and managed to catch the first snowfall of the year on our post dinner walk, very pleasant indeed. She’s off again tomorrow until Friday, so another week of returning home to an empty house.

As I was about to head out today a dude turned up to check the water meter, after checking his ID he made the “customary” exclamation at my ability to be able to read Chinese characters. I asked had he thought that I was illiterate in the country I live in.. Alas, can’t help but what the reaction would be back home if someone who didn’t look “native” was complimented with: “wow! you can even read English words”. Time for lasagne
